Hello, dear Eydigard community!
First off, we'd like to acknowledge the gap since our last update. It's been a hot minute, hasn't it?
Over the past months, our primary focus has been on refining the alpha build, particularly for our NFI grant application this September. And we're thrilled to announce that the core gameplay loop of Eydigard is now in place! It's one thing to have a vision of a game, but it's an entirely different feeling to see it take shape, piece by piece, right before our eyes.
We currently have all the basic elements of two biomes completed: The calming birch forest and the gloomy spruce forest. For these areas of the game, we have started working on all the magic spices that make all the difference while playing. Our third biome, the highland pine forest, is well underway and will soon be teeming with fairytale creatures. And deep beneath the mountain, we are now starting construction of the first Vettir-dungeon!
We recognize that the allure of a fantasy RPG doesn't lie in any one single feature. It's not just the epic battles, complicated recipes, or expansive environments. Instead, it's the culmination of all these elements and the minute details that enrich our world-building. That is what makes a game truly magical. While we've been focused on the broader picture, we haven't forgotten the importance of those finer touches that breathe life into Eydigard.
So, what's next on our journey? As we gear up for the game's next phase, we'll be pulling back the curtains a tad more. Expect more frequent updates in the coming weeks, where we'll give you glimpses of our sprawling environments, introduce you to some of the intriguing creatures of Eydigard, delve into combat mechanics, and peek at some deeper lore...for those who are nerds like us.
